Georgia Southern pitcher Jim Dobson threw a complete game and hit a home run in a 7-3 win over USC. All of the Eagles' runs came in the fifth off Joe Land and Ronnie Evans, including homers by Dobson and a 3-run blast by Ralph Lynch. Offensively, middle infielders Wallie Jones and Toy McCord each had two hits for Carolina.
