N.C. State broke a 5-5 tie with two runs in the bottom of the eighth to take a Southern Conference game from the Gamecocks. Wolfpack outfielders Uriah Norwood and Ray Rex did most of the damage, with Norwood missing only a homer from hitting for a cycle, while Rex did have a home run among his two hits. USC shortstop Clint Brodgden had three hits and an RBI, while catcher Hook Williamson drove in a pair of runs.
