Carolina got off to a great start on the road in Athens but eventually fell to a Georgia squad that got hot in the second half. USC led 18-10 at the end of the first quarter and 30-26 at the end of the first half. The Bulldogs rallied as the second half started though, and a basket by Bubba Potts put UGA up 34-33. Carolina's Johnnie Peterson countered to go back up 35-34, but Georgia guard Hoss Hall dropped in a bucket in response and the Bulldogs never trailed again. Georgia star Zippy Morocco led the Bulldogs in scoring with 20, while Peterson led all scorers with 22. Guard Jack Neeley also scored in double figures with ten points. The 57-50 loss dropped Carolina's record to 1-1 on the year.
