| Two late goals turned a well played game on the road by the Gamecocks into a disappointing loss. USC scored the first goal of the game when Luca Mayr's shot was stopped by Furman goalkeeper Ben Hale, but Justin Sukow was right there to clean up the rebound and make it 1-0 Carolina. USC would get several more scoring chances late in the game, including three corner kicks and two free kicks, but couldn't put any more points on the board. Furman broke through in the game's 80th minute when Danny Kierath's corner kick was headed in by defenseman Jack Shiels. The match stayed tied only forty-six seconds, as a failed clearing attempt by USC was intercepted by the Paladins and Emery May put in the game winner past Gamecock keeper Ian McGrane. |
