The Terriers of Wofford kept this one close for about 65 minutes, but then a barrage of four goals in four minutes made it a runaway for the Gamecocks. The only goal for the first portion of the game came on a penalty kick by USC senior Peyton Ericson in the eleventh minute of the game. Defensively Carolina kept Wofford bottled up, as the Terriers didn't get their first shot on goal until the game's forty fifth minute. A series of passes from Aidan O'Brien to Tucker Monheimer to Luca Mayr set up Mayr's first goal of the season in the 65th minute. That opened the floodgates for the Gamecocks, as less than two minutes later Josh Corning's shot was stopped by Wofford keeper Shane Berson, but the rebound went to Monheimer, who put it in the back of the net. In the next minute Petter Soelberg gathered up another deflection and scored his first goal of the year. To finish things up in the 69th minute leading scorer Justin Sukow intercepted an attempt clear by Wofford's keeper and knocked it in from about fifteen yards out. The goal was Sukow's team leading third of the season. The game marked the first time USC scored five goals since a win against Florida International in October 2014 and the largest shutout margin since a 5-0 win over Gardner-Webb in October 2001.
