Biography

The Gamecocks’ regular right tackle in 1946 and 1947, Alexander was named second team All-State by The Associated Press in 1946 despite missing several games due to an injury. Injuries also cost him several games in 1948, a season in which he was moved from tackle to guard. He was drafted by the Detroit Lions of the NFL in 1947 and then by the Baltimore Colts of the All-American Football Conference in 1949.
