JONES ANDREWS Wide Receiver 1984 / 1987 Columbia, SC |
Biography |
---|
The younger brother of former Gamecock defensive back Lee Andrews, Jones was named All-State in 1980 as a sophomore at Richland Northeast. He played quarterback throughout his career there and one of his top receivers was future Gamecock teammate Ryan Bethea. Andrews played in the 1982 North-South All-Star Game. A knee injury delayed him from enrolling at USC until 1984. He moved from quarterback to wide receiver in 1985. Andrews started against Clemson in 1986 and had a 16-yard scoring run on a reverse against Wake Forest that season. He was a top reserve in 1987 and was expected to be a starter in 1988 but a knee injury ended his career before the season. He is now an attorney in Columbia. |
