KEVIN WHITE Wide Receiver 1983 / 1987 Charlotte, NC

Biography

An All-City quarterback at South Meck in 1982 where he won a state championship in 1981, White played in the North Carolina East-West All-Star Game in July 1983. He picked the Gamecocks over N.C. State and redshirted in 1983. White began the 1984 season competing for the starting job at quarterback but moved to running back early in the season. He made one start at running back (vs. Navy) and threw a touchdown pass to Mike Hold against Florida State on a trick play. When USC moved to the run-and-shoot offense in 1986 White moved to the wingback position where he would be largely a receiver but also run some and he scored on rushing TDs against both Western Carolina and Georgia that year. White had 102 yards receiving in a 40-10 win over Virginia Tech in 1987 while also catching eight passes against Georgia. He won the team’s George Terry Best Attitude Award as a senior and had a tryout with the New England Patriots in 1988. White lives in Charlotte now.
