TRAVIS WHITFIELD Offensive Guard 1993 / 1997 Honea-Path, SC

Biography

An All-State lineman at B-H-P, Whitfield was also named All-Area and played in the Shrine Bowl in 1992. Whitfield picked the Gamecocks in December of ’92 over Clemson, Georgia and East Carolina. He was recruited as a defensive lineman after excelling as an end in high school and played that position while redshirting in 1993. He was moved to offensive guard in August of 1994 and backed up Delvin Herring at the tight guard slot that year. Whitfield took over as a starter the next year and remained there the rest of his career. He won the George Terry Best Attitude Award as a senior. Whitfield married former USC softball player Stacey Johnson and lives in Pennsyvlvania.
