Biography |
---|
Wilson took over a starting end spot as a freshman in 1946 and played well enough to earn All-State honors. Among his highlights were a seven-yard touchdown run in a 26-14 win over Clemson that year. Wilson retained his starting spot in 1947 and scored two touchdowns in a 26-8 win over Furman, catching TD passes from Droopy Atwell and Ernie Lawhorn. He earned All-State honors again that season. As a junior Wilson was All-State for a third consecutive season and honorable mention All-Southern Conference. He scored Carolina’s only TD in a 13-7 loss to Clemson that year on a 27-yard pass from Bo Hagan. Wilson was chosen for the 1949 North-South All-Star Game after his senior year in addition to being named 3rd team All-Southern Conference. He was drafted in the 9th round by the Green Bay Packers in 1950. Wilson was inducted into the USC Sports Hall of Fame in 1998. |
