Biography
Adkins played quarterback and punter for Swansea, leading them to the 1961 state championship game and played in the 1961 Shrine Bowl. He also played in the North-South All-Star Game, starting at linebacker on defense. He was a quarterback early in his Gamecock career but worked mostly as a reserve defensive back, being listed as the second string right safety in 1965 and second string left defensive halfback in 1966.
