JAMES ADKISSON Wide Receiver 2000 / 2002 St. Louis, MO

Biography

Adkisson was a standout receiver and return man at Ritenour, showing his skills in one game where he returned a punt 75 yards for a score and a kickoff 91 yards for a touchdown. He was named All-State for his return skills and then attended Kemper Junior College. Adkisson caught 59 passes for 1,375 yards for Kemper in 1999 and was named a junior college All-American, then signed on with the Gamecocks over Arizona State, Missouri, Arkansas, Michigan State and Minnesota. He started four games in 2000 while playing in every game. His big play that year was a 35-yard catch from Phil Petty that set up the infamous “Coach I Can Throw The Fade” touchdown pass from Erik Kimrey to Jermale Kelly. After a promising spring in 2001 in which he also competed for USC in track, a back injury kept Adkisson out almost all of 2001, leading to a medical redshirt. He started four times as a senior and scored on a 44-yard pass from Corey Jenkins against New Mexico State. He played for the Cologne Centurions of NFL Europe in 2005 and spent two years with the Oakland Raiders and one with the Green Bay Packers.
