| Bacon was named an honorable mention All-State defensive back by the Atlanta Journal-Constitution in 1980. He played defensive back on the 1981 junior varsity team at Carolina while also dressing out some with the varsity. Because of his outstanding 4.4 forty speed he was moved to wide receiver as a sophomore, catching one pass that season against Richmond. He did not catch any passes in 1983, but was used on reverses four times, including a 15-yard run against Duke and rushing twice for six yards against Southern Cal. He was listed as the second string flanker in both 1982 and 1983. As a senior he caught a pass against East Carolina and rushed once against Kansas State. |
