Biography

Turner joined the team as a walk-on in 2006 and redshirted that season before taking over the long snapping duties in 2007. He handled snapping duties on both kicks and punts that season while also contributing three tackles on coverage. Turner won the Outstanding Walk-On Award in spring 2008 and set up the Gamecocks’ final score in the 27-6 win over Tennessee that season when he recovered a fumble at the Vols’ 14 yard line while also recording two other special teams tackles. Turner was placed on scholarship in 2009 and continued his outstanding work as the top deep snapper for the new two seasons. One of his standout tackles that year was stuffing Clemson’s C.J. Spiller for just a two-yard punt return in Carolina’s 34-17 win over the Tigers.
