KEN WALKUP Running Back 1967 / 1970 Timmonsville, SC

Biography

Walkup was a multi-sport star at Timmonsville. He was named MVP in baseball in 1967 as Timmonsville defeated Greer to win the South Carolina American Legion championship. A teammate of QB Tommy Suggs at Timmonsville HS, Walkup played in the 1967 North-South All-Star Game. He began the 1969 season as the starter at flanker opposite split end Fred Zeigler. He missed some time in 1970 with the flu. He had his biggest day as a Gamecock that year when he picked up 71 yards on eleven carries against Wake Forest, including runs of 17 and 20 yards. His longest run that year was a 43-yarder against Virginia Tech.
