PHIL WALLACE Linebacker 1971 / 1973 Virginia Beach, VA

Biography

Wallace played on offense for the 1970 Gamecock freshman squad but was moved to defense full-time upon joining the varsity in 1971. He had a tackle for loss against Maryland and recovered a fumble and a Cavalier onside kick against Virginia that year. He became a starter at weak-side linebacker in 1972 but missed the Virginia and Georgia Tech games with a severe case of the flu. His best game may have been against Wake Forest that year when he had eight tackles, including one for a loss. Wallace backed up Tony Pepper and Garry Mott in 1973. He now owns Wallace Motor Company in Fordyce, Arkansas.
