MIKE WASHINGTON
Nose Guard
1992 / 1995
Milledgeville, GA
Biography
Washington was a two-time Atlanta Journal-Constitution All-State honoree (1989, 1990) in addition to being All-Area and All-Middle Georgia. After his senior season he was chosen to play in the Georgia-Florida All-Star Game. Washington redshirted in 1991 and backed up Cedric Bembery at nose guard in 1992, though he made one of the biggest defensive plays of the year when he picked off a pass against Louisiana Tech and returned it seven yards before lateraling to Ernest Dixon, who returned it for the winning touchdown. Washington made another big play in the ’93 opener, recovering an Eric Zeier fumble at the Georgia 41 – the Gamecocks scored a touchdown on the next play as USC upset the 14th ranked Bulldogs. He started some in 1994 and 1995, including Vanderbilt (1994) and Kent State (1995). Washington now lives in Macon, Georgia.
