Biography

Originally a 2007 signee of Alabama-Birmingham’s, Watkins joined the Gamecocks after two seasons at Georgia Military. He redshirted in 2009 before taking over as the starter at right guard. Watkins moved outside to tackle in 2011, beginning the year as the starting right tackle. He was the game captain against Georgia and won SEC Offensive Lineman of the Week for his performance against East Carolina. When Kyle Nunn went down with an injury Watkins moved to left tackle and started the last seven regular season games there. He moved to right guard for the bowl win over Nebraska. Watkins was named first team All-SEC by The Associated Press for 2011.
