Wehman is far more notable for his post-USC career than anything he accomplished as a Gamecock player. Wehman had attended West Point in 1911 and 1912 where he was a classmate of future President Dwight Eisenhower. He went on to be a member of the Charleston City Council from 1939 to 1944 and was mayor from 1944 to 1947. In addition to running his own insurance company, Wehman was an active member of the South Carolina Mental Health Commission. He passed away in May 1964 after a long career in public service. |
