TERRY WILBURN Running Back 1990 / 1992 Roebuck, SC

Biography

Wilburn played quarterback for Dorman in 1988 and 1989, earning All-State honors and All-Area honors from the Spartanburg Herald-Journal. He chose USC over Clemson, Georgia and North Carolina. Wilburn and fellow freshman split time backing up upperclassmen Mike Dingle and Albert Haynes in 1990. His best game may have been in 1991 when he scored the winning touchdown in a 28-21 victory over Virginia Tech and rushed for 35 yards while picking up 39 on receptions. Wilburn backed up DeBoer and Brandon Bennett in 1992 and was the team’s leading rusher through the end of September on the strength of a 93-yard outing against Kentucky. He transferred to Tennessee-Chattanooga and had a 103-yard game for the Mocs against VMI. He was briefly with the 49ers and Vikings in 1995 and was the starting tailback on the Barcelona Dragons team that won the 1997 World Bowl in NFL Europe. Wilburn rushed for 678 yards in two seasons with the Dragons. He now lives in the Spartanburg area.
