KURT WILSON Defensive End 1986 / 1990 Middlesex, NJ

Biography

Wilson was All-State, All-Area and All-Conference as a senior at Middlesex High in 1985. He originally committed to Maryland but ended up with the Gamecocks. He played as a true freshman in 1986 and had three sacks in his first career start, at Wake Forest. Wilson won the starting left defensive tackle job in the spring of ’87 and finished tied for third in sacks on the team that year. He had two sacks in USC’s dominating 48-0 victory over N.C. State. Wilson started some in 1988 but was injured against Western Carolina; he returned from that injury but suffered an ankle injury against Navy and missed the last few games. He redshirted in 1989 as the ankle injury lingered but bounced back as a starter in 1990 when he was a co-captain and led the team in tackles for loss. Wilson went into coaching and teaching at the high school level and was head coach at The Hammond School in Columbia.
