DAMIAN YONGUE
Defensive End
1993 / 1994
Orangeburg, SC
Biography
Yongue was one of the more highly recruited defensive players in the state in 1992 after being named All-State, All-Area and All-Region as a senior. Yongue played in the Shrine Bowl and was named to Blue Chip Magazine’s All-America list. He signed on with the Gamecocks over offers from Clemson and Miami (Fla.). Yongue was initially signed as a linebacker but was moved to the defensive line as a true freshman. A knee injury that required surgery wiped out his first year in Columbia. He entered the ’94 season as the top backup to James Flowers and saw limited playing time before a broken arm ended his season prematurely.
