Young was ranked in the top 35 players in Georgia by both Rivals.com and SuperPrep as a senior in 2004. He originally committed to Maryland but signed with the Gamecocks. As a senior at Tucker Young rushed for 1,112 yards and 16 touchdowns while intercepting three passes on defense. The Gamecocks tried him at both cornerback and running back before leaving him on offense during his redshirt season. Young decided to transfer to Tennessee-Martin (where he teamed with former USC QB Cade Thompson) before 2006 spring practice. A two-year starter with the Skyhaws, Young rushed for 1,618 yards and 21 touchdowns in his three seasons at UT-Martin. |
