Biography

Young was hailed as a recruiting coup for the Gamecocks when he signed with USC over offers from Florida State and Miami. An All-State tackle from Florida, he was Rivals.com’s number twenty offensive tackle nationally and played in the CaliFlorida Bowl All-Star Game following his senior season. A lingering shoulder injury required surgery during the 2006 season and led to a redshirt. Earned a starting role for the Georgia game early in 2007, but then sprained an ankle in practice and did not play any that year. A second shoulder injury and subsequent surgery kept him out all of 2008.
