2010 - The start that spawned a Gamecock legend - USC, still facing elimination in the College World Series, sent Michael Roth to the mound for the left hander's first start of the year. Roth simply went out and threw a complete game three hitter to beat Clemson 5-1 and keep USC's title hopes alive. The Gamecocks scored a run in each of the first three innings, as Evan Marzilli led off the game with a double and scored on a ground out by Jackie Bradley Jr. In the second Brady Thomas opened the inning with a double and came around on a single by Adrian Morales, and in the third Marzilli walked, stole second and scored on a double by Bradley. The Tigers put up their lone run in the bottom of the third when Richie Shaffer doubled and scored on a passed ball. Clemson never threatened again as Roth held them to two singles in the final six innings. USC added a run in the fourth on a solo homer by Kyle Enders and one in the sixth on an RBI single by Enders. The win set up a rematch the next day between the same two teams with a championship berth on the line.
