Alston was All-Region and All-state as a senior at Stratford in addition to being named the Charleston Post and Courier’s All-Lowcountry team. He played in the Shrine Bowl after his senior season and was named the number nine player in the Atlantic region by PrepStar. Alston committed to USC over Georgia Tech, Clemson and Michigan State and redshirted in 2000 as a true freshman. He played in nine games in 2001 as a reserve defensive lineman. He had a season-high four tackles against Georgia and recorded a sack against Alabama. Alston was shifted to the offensive line in 2002 and played in eight games as the top backup to Travelle Wharton at left tackle. He took over as a starter in 2003, winning the Team Toughness Award in spring practice that year then starting the first six games before a knee injury sidelined him. Alston came back to start three more games that year then ten games in 2004. He played in the NFL with the Washington Redskins in 2006 and the Seattle Seahawks in 2007 and played with the Cologne Centurions of NFL Europe in 2007. He is now an IT consultant in the Boston area. |
