Biography
Auguste was an All-State defensive back in 2006 and was ranked by Rivals.com as the nation’s number fourteen cornerback prospect, while SuperPrep rated him the number 41 player in Florida. He made official vists to Pittsburgh, West Virginia and Wake Forest before committing to the Gamecocks. Auguste spent a year at Fork Union Prep before joining USC and worked as a backup at cornerback to Stoney Woodson and free safety behind Chris Culliver as a freshman after winning the Big Play Award in spring 2008. He took over as a starting cornerback in 2009, getting the call for nine games there and one at free safety. He made one of the big plays in USC’s 2009 victory over Clemson when with USC trailing 7-0 he forced a fumble by Jamie Harper at the Gamecock 25; USC tied the game at seven on the ensuing drive on the way to a 34-17 win. He also had a forced fumble at Georgia. Auguste switched to free safety in 2010, starting ten games there and ranking sixth on the team in tackles. He won the Sports Illustrated “Hard Hit of the Week” that year for a tackle made against Southern Mississippi. A foot injury suffered in fall camp kept him out of all but one game in 2010, resulting in a medical redshirt year. He was named third team All-SEC in the 2012 pre-season, but injuries kept him out much of the season. He returned late in the year and returned a fumble 31 yards for a touchdown against Wofford and picked off a pass in the win over Arkansas. His younger brother Kareem was on the 2012 squad as a walk-on defensive back. Auguste was signed by Cleveland as an undrafted free agent and spent time on the practice squads of the Browns and Seahawks.
