As a senior at Irmo, Wier rushed for 1,328 yards and was named to the Shrine Bowl, though a hamstring injury kept him from playing in the game. He was also named to the Class AAA All-State team. He played defensive back and tailback for the Gamecock freshman team in 1973 and then transferred to Furman. He was expected to be the Paladins’ starting tailback in 1975 but was declared academically ineligible in August 1975. He enrolled at USC in 1976 and walked on to the team but did not play in 1976. He lives in the Columbia area. |
