Biography

Williams was named All-State by the Atlanta Journal-Constitution in 1985 while also excelling in track at Collins. He excelled at Taft Junior College, leading them to a number one ranking amount California JuCos while also averaging twelve and a half yards per carry. He signed with the Gamecocks in 1988 and played in four games as a running back and kickoff returner. He earned one start, against Western Carolina when Harold Green was hurt, and looked good, picking up 108 yards and a touchdown in 18 carries. Williams left the team in 1989 when Joe Morrison died but came back in the spring of 1990 and was challenging Mike Dingle for the starting job following a good showing in spring practice. He was declared academically ineligible for the 1990 season, ending his Gamecock career.
