Williams was a member of both the USC football and boxing teams and his boxing career with the Gamecocks included wining the 1938 Southern Conference boxing tournament in the 165-pound class with successful bouts against Happy Deas of The Citadel and Bill Cason of Clemson. He went on to serve with The Marines in World War II. |
