RON WILLIS Offensive Tackle 1991 / 1994 East St. Louis, IL |
Biography |
---|
Willis followed a path of many turns to playing football for South Carolina. In high school he played center on a basketball team that featured future NBAer LaPhonso Ellis while also being a standout on the track and field team in the shotput. He earned a basketball scholarship to Fresno State but competed only in shotput there before transferring to USC. After seeing him on the track and field team then coach Sparky Woods convinced Willis to walk-on to the football team, where he served as a reserve for two seasons. |
