Williams was a standout receiver at Interlachen High School as a sophomore, but was hurt during his junior season, which led to him being a “sleeper” in recruiting circles despite some big games as a tailback, receiver and punt returner as a senior at Palatka. He was named to the “Best of the Rest” list by the Orlando Sentinel behind their “Super Seniors” list and was Class 5A All-State as a wide receiver. He redshirted in 1996 and was a reserve in 1997. Williams was declared academically ineligible in June of 1998 and transferred to Clark Atlanta, where he played in 1999. |
