Biography
Lightly recruited out of Middleton, a then new high school in Tampa, Woodson was all-county in 2003 when he played cornerback, wide receiver, quarterback and returned kicks for the Tigers. His primary receiver that year was future Gamecock WR O.J. Murdock. After picking the Gamecocks over Iowa State, Woodson redshirted in 2004 and backed up future NFL star Johnathan Joseph in 2005, though he did earn his first start that year against Troy State. He recovered a fumble by Tennessee RB Arian Foster at the USC 1 to save a score as Carolina upset the Vols. Woodson took over as a regular in 2006, starting eight games at free safety. He made one of the first of several big plays in his career that year when he intercepted Kentucky quarterback Andre Woodson and returned it to the Wildcat 24 to set up a Gamecock touchdown in a 24-17 Carolina victory. Woodson won Most Improved Cornerback in the spring of 2007 and started the season opener at free safety. A hamstring injury kept him out of two games in 2007, but he bounced back to start the last two games at corner and picked off Tim Tebow in the game against Florida. Woodson started 10 games in his senior season and made some of the season’s biggest plays, as he returned an interception 68 yards for a score in a 27-6 win over Tennessee and stopped Arkansas’ final drive of the first half with an interception as USC beat the Razorbacks 34-21. A seventh round pick of the New York Giants in 2009 , an ankle injury caused Woodson start the season on the sidelines. He also spent time that year with the Eagles and the Buccaneers. Woodson signed with the Jacksonville Sharks of the Arena Football League in 2012.
