For six innings Carolina put up a great battle versus #5 Arkansas in Game One of the Fayetteville Super Regional, but the pitching staff eventually wore down as they lost control of the strike zone. The Razorbacks would score four runs in the seventh to take a commanding lead on their way to an 9-3 win. USC got on the scoreboard first as Justin Row opened the second with a single and scored on a double by Hunter Taylor. Arkansas would tie the game in the bottom of the 3rd but LT Tolbert would put Carolina back on top with a solo homer to right in the top of the fourth. The Razorbacks scored two in the bottom of the fourth on a single, two walks and two hit batsmen as USC starter Adam Hill began to really struggle. After Hill walked the opening batter of the fifth he was pulled in favor of Eddy Demurias, who would get out of the inning without any harm. Madison Stokes tied the game back up by opening the sixth with a big blast over the 375-foot sign in left center, but Arkansas went back on top in the bottom of the inning on a walk, wild pitch and a single. Carolina would manage only one more hit in the final three innings while Demurias and John Gilreath were touched for five runs over the seventh and eighth.
