The Gamecocks fought their way to even the Super Regional series with Arkansas with an 8-5 win. Cody Morris started for Carolina and pitched a gem for five innings, allowing only a single unearned run. USC scored its first two runs courtesy of Justin Row's bat, as a first inning single and a third inning homer put Carolina up 2-1. The Gamecocks broke it open in the fifth, as a single by Carlos Cortes and walks to Row and Jonah Bride loaded the bases. Arkansas pulled starter Kacey Murphy after the walk to Bride, but reliever Jake Reindl walked Row then gave up a grand-slam over the right field wall by LT Tolbert. It made the second straight game for Tolbert and was immediately followed by a solo blast from Hunter Taylor to make the score 7-1. A rough inning from Graham Lawson and some very shaky defense from USC got Arkansas back in the game a little in the sixth as the Razorbacks made it 7-3. USC, ranked fourth in the nation in fielding percentage, uncharacteristically booted four errors in the game. Sawyer Bridges bailed out Lawson and then gutted his way through 3 1/3 innings of relief for his fifth save. The Gamecocks tacked on one more run in the sixth as Madison Stokes singled, Bride and Row walked and Stokes scored on a wild pitch. The eight runs were enough as they held on to force a series deciding Game Three.
