June Raines got his 500th win as Carolina edged Baptist College 2-1 with a walk-off single from third baseman Kenny Welch. Gamecock starter Matt Threehouse allowed one run and just four hits in his eight innings before giving way to Burke Cromer, who picked up the win with a scoreless top of the ninth. Second baseman Mark Taylor would score the eventual winning run in the bottom of the ninth - he drew a walk, moved to second on a bunt from Dave Willman, went to third on a wild pitch and scored when Welch dropped a line drive into shallow right for the game-winning hit.
