Gamecock starter Matt Threehouse allowed one run and just four hits in his eight innings before giving way to Burke Cromer, who picked up the win with a scoreless top of the ninth. Second baseman Mark Taylor would score the eventual winning run in the bottom of the ninth - he drew a walk, moved to second on a bunt from Dave Willman, went to third on a wild pitch and scored when Welch dropped a line drive into shallow right for the game-winning hit.
