After dominating Charleston Southern in the first two games of the series the Gamecock bats went silent Sunday ia 4-2 loss. USC fell behind 2-0 in the third as a pair of walks came back to haunt starter Ridge Chapman as they both scored on a triple by CSU catcher Mike Sconzo. Carolina never recovered, as they managed only four hits on the day. USC's best chance came in the 8th, as they loaded the bases with two out. LT Tolbert drew a walk to force in a run and make it 4-2 CSU, but Chris Cullen flied out to end the threat. USC went down three up, three down in the ninth to snap a six game winning streak. Tolbert had two of USC's four hits and both runs batted in while freshman John Gilreath again dazzled, pitching 3 1/3 innings of scoreless relief.
