Carolina got five shutout innings from freshman starter Carmen Mlodzinski and used five extra base hits to pummel The Citadel 12-1 in a midweek game in Charleston. Mlodzinski allowed just two hits and struck out five, leaving the game with a 4-0 lead. Parker Coyne surrendered one run in two innings of relief but Graham Lawson and Corey Stone held the Bulldogs scoreless the rest of the way. USC got their first runs in the third as Jacob Olson walked and Chris Cullen singled to get runners on, then Carlos Cortes drilled an RBI single to score Olson. Cullen would come in on an RBI groundout from LT Tolbert for a 2-0 lead. Two more runs were scored in the fourth on a home run by Olson and USC really blew the game open in the 7th, scoring seven runs. Cortes and Justin Row got the scoring started with RBI singles An error scored another run and Madison Stokes singled home one more. Olson finished the scoring with a 3-run bases clearing double. The game marked the return to the lineup for Stokes, who'd been out with a hamstring injury. In addition to his RBI single he homered in the sixth before being replaced by Kyle Jacobsen.
