A mid-week game against the Davidson Wildcats helped Carolina break a five game losing streak, as Logan Chapman gave USC five solid innings on the mound and Justin Row and Hunter Taylor delivered longballs. The Gamecocks scored first as Jonah Bride and Row opened the second inning with back to back singles and Bride eventually scored on a ground out by Riley Hogan, starting at DH in place of the injured Noah Campbell. A double by Row in the fourth brought home LT Tolbert on an error by the Davidson LF as he struggled to field Row's hit. Davidson would tie the game in the top of the fifth, stringing together a pair of runs on a walk, single, RBI ground out and another single and that would close the day for Chapman who allowed three hits and the two runs over his five innings. Homers by Taylor (solo, bottom 5th) and Row (2-run shot, bottom 6th) pushed the lead to 5-2. The Wildcats rallied against freshman John Gilreath, cutting the lead to 5-4, but Eddy Demurias closed things out for his second save with two scoreless innings of relief.
