Carolina completed its first ever home sweep of LSU in an exciting comeback that saw the Gamecocks get off the mat and rally from a 6-0 deficit to win 8-6. The first two innings were scoreless and were highlighted mainly by an amazing defensive play from Justin Row who crossed from second base across the bag into shallow left to field a grounder, then turn, jump and throw out LSU's Nick Coomes at first. LSU DH Daniel Cabrera gave the Tigers their first lead of the three game series in the third inning by driving a Cody Morris pitch into the left field stands. A pair of doubles off Morris highlighted a three-run fifth that left the Gamecocks seemingly too far behind for a sweep. Reliever Eddy Demurias was the first to ride to the rescue for USC, striking out a batter to end the 5th then getting a three-up, three-down sixth inning. The rally then started, as LT Tolbert and Jonah Bride singled with one out in the 6th. Justin Row walked, then Matt Williams walked to force in the first run. DH Noah Campbell singled to bring in two more and TJ Hopkins singled to make it 6-4 suddenly. Another shutout inning from Demurias set up another big inning, as Bride walked and Row clubbed a homer into the stands in left to tie the game. Demurias blanked LSU again in the 8th and this time USC took the lead as Hopkins singled, Carlos Cortes walked and Madison Stokes reached on an error. Tolbert then dropped a single into right center to score two for the 8-6 lead. Demurias finally weakened in the 9th but Sawyer Bridges came in and closed things out with a strikeout and pop out.
