Freshman John Gilreath turned in his second straight four inning, scoreless outing, this time as the starter, as USC defeated North Florida 5-2. Gilreath, who skipped his senior season at Rock Hill Northwestern to pitch for USC, allowed just one hit and one walk while striking out four. The Gamecocks got on the board first as Jacob Olson blasted his second homer of the year in the second. LT Tolbert manufactured the second run, as he was hit by a pitch, stole second and scored on a single by Justin Row. UNF rallied, scoring 2 off Sawyer Bridges in the fifth to tie the game, but that would be their final runs of the contest. Carolina scored in each of its final three at-bats on an RBI single by Olson in the 6th, a bases loaded walk to Chris Cullen in the 7th after walks to Noah Campbell and Tolbert and a single by TJ Hopkins. The final run came in the 8th when Campbell tripled and scored on a double by Hopkins. JuCo transfer Eddy Demurias got his first Gamecock save by pitching a scoreless ninth.
