Carolina got the Greenville Regional started in thrilling fashion, as the Gamecocks were blanked for six innings, then poured eight runs in during the seventh and eighth for an 8-3 win. Adam Hill started for USC, giving up one run in four innings before exiting due to effects of the heat. Eddy Demurias relieved Hill and gave up only an unearned run in his three innings. The score was 2-0 Ohio State when the bottom of the seventh started but Hunter Taylor and Jacob Olson opened the inning with singles. Matt Williams bunted them to second and third, then Danny Blair stunned the Buckeyes by lining a homer over the right field wall for a 3-2 lead. It was only Blair's second homer of the year. USC scored two more runs that inning as Justin Row singled to score Carlos Cortes and Madison Stokes. Graham Lawson took over for Demurias and shut out the Buckeyes in the eighth while Cortes and Jonah Bride delivered RBI singles in the bottom of the inning. Matt Williams scored on a throwing error as the lead swelled to 8-2. Lawson allowed an unearned run in the top of the 9th but retired the last three batters for his third save of the year.
