It looked like a big five-run third inning might be enough to carry Carolina to a Friday night SEC win in Athens but the bullpen was unable to hold the lead. Georgia rallied with four runs in their final two at-bats to win 7-5. The Bulldogs jumped out to an early lead with a pair of runs off starter John Gilreath in the first inning but Carolina rallied in the third. RBI singles from Noah Campbell and Madison Stokes tied the game, then a big two-run triple from L.T. Tolbert gave the Gamecocks the lead. Tolbert then scored on an RBI single off the bat of Jonah Bride as the lead swelled to 5-2. Georgia scored one in the fourth off Gilreath then plated three runs in the bottom of the seventh off Graham Lawson and Eddy Demurias to re-take the lead at 6-5. They added a final run in the eighth on a single and a couple of ground outs.
