The Gamecocks dropped to 0-2 in SEC series on the season in a game that went wrong from the start. Georgia blasted their way to a 6-0 in the first three innings and never looked back. Carolina never recovered, only getting as close as 6-2 after home runs from Carlos Cortes and Jacob Olson. The Bulldogs countered, scoring six more in the bottom of the eighth to put the game away. USC got a pair of hits each from Noah Campbell and Hunter Taylor, including a solo homer from Taylor in the 9th. The only bright spot on the mound was reliever Sawyer Bridges, who pitched two scoreless innings and struck out a pair of Bulldogs.
