Another barrage of walks, sloppy fielding and poor hitting sent Carolina tumbling to another double-digit loss, this time dropping the series opener to Kentucky 14-1. Starter Adam Hill walked seven and gave up four hits and seven runs in three innings and six more runs came in off reliever Hunter Lomas. The Wildcats scored three in the second, four in the third, one in the fifth, five in the sixth and a final run in the seventh. The Gamecocks' only run came in the seventh when L.T. Tolbert opened the inning with a single and moved to second on a throwing error. Matt Williams laced a single to center that scored Tolbert. Sadly runners with on first and second (Jonah Bride had also singled) USC wasn't able to get any more runs across the plate.
