The series finale between Carolina and Missouri turned into an epic pitching duel between Cody Morris and the Tigers' Tyler LaPlante. Morris gave up a single and a walk in the first inning but Carlos Cortes threw out Missouri's Brian Sharp as he tried to score on Alex Samples' single. Morris would allow only two more hits the rest of the way and the Tigers never threatened to score off him again. LaPlante was equally as effective, giving up a double to Justin Row in the first, another to Noah Campbell in the third and a third to Jonah Bride in the fourth but never allowing any of those three to advance beyond second. Eddy Demurias entered the game in the 8th to relieve Morris and gave up a single in the eighth and a single in the ninth but didn't let the Tigers ever mount a threat. The score remained tied going into the bottom of the ninth, when Carlos Cortes launched LaPlante's first pitch beyond the right field fence for the 1-0 win and series clincher.
