The hot bats continued for Carolina, as they scored in double figures for the second straight day against fourth-ranked Mississippi. Senior Matt Williams accounted for the game's first run with a solo homer to open the bottom of the third and the Gamecocks would add two more that inning on a sac fly by Madison Stokes and an RBI single by Jonah Bride. The Rebels scored once in the top of the fourth, but USC blew it open in the bottom of that inning, scoring five times to make it 8-1. RBI singles by Williams, Stokes and TJ Hopkins accounted for three of the runs, while Carlos Cortes doubled to score two more. USC appeared to be cruising when it added two more in the fifth on another 2-run double from Cortes, but the 10-1 lead got a little shaky late. Freshman Carmen Mlodzinski pitched a scoreless seventh, but allowed 3 runs in the 8th and Graham Lawson gave up a 2-run homer to cut the lead to 10-6. Eddy Demurias finally came in and shut the door on the rally and got a 3-up, 3-down ninth to close out the win and claim the series.
