USC just missed sweeping #4 Ole Miss, as the Gamecocks saw a 5-3 lead evaporate late, leading to a ten inning 6-5 loss to the Rebels. Mississippi scored first, putting up a pair of runs in the second as Carolina starter Cody Morris gave up a pair of home runs. The Gamecocks bounced back and tied the game in the third, as a Madison Stokes two-out single plated Jacob Olson and Hunter Taylor. USC reliever Eddy Demurias gave up a solo homer in the top of the fifth to put the Rebels up 3-2, but Carolina tied it in the bottom of the inning as LT Tolbert walked with the bases loaded to force in a run. Taylor and Carlos Cortes homered in the bottom of the sixth as USC took a 5-3 lead. Demurias was unable to hold the lead though, giving up a run in the seventh and the tying run in the 8th. USC missed a prime opportunity in the bottom of the eighth, as Olson led off the inning with a double, followed by a single from Taylor, but the Gamecocks were unable to score. TJ Hopkins lined out, Cortes popped out and Stokes struck out, stranding Olson at third. After a scoreless 9th, Rebels 3B Tyler Keenan doubled off Sawyer Bridges and eventually scored on a sacrifice fly by DH Chase Cockrell. Carolina got the tying run in scoring position in the bottom of the 10th, as Olson and Taylor singled, but reliever Parker Caracci struck out Noah Campbell and Stokes to end the game.
