Cody Morris gave a strong performance on the mound and three solo home runs helped USC claim the series with Tennessee and break a 10-series losing streak. Morris and Vol starter Garrett Stallings kept both teams scoreless through three but Carlos Cortes got things going with a solo home run with two outs in the fourth, one of his three hits on the day. Center fielder Danny Blair opened the fifth with his first homer of the year to extend the lead to 2-0. UT's Jay Charleston doubled in the sixth and scored on a ground out to cut it to 2-1 but Morris struck out Benito Santiago and then got a fly out to escape without further damage. Singles by Justin Row, Riley Hogan and Carlos Cortes scored another run, with Row scoring on Cortes' hit, followed by Hogan scoring on a wild pitch to push the lead to 4-1. A home run by Jacob Olson and an RBI double from Matt Williams gave the Gamecocks a comfortable 6-1 lead and they coasted from there, claiming a 6-2 win.
