For the second straight SEC game Carolina found itself deep in a hole and rallied to take a stunning victory. This time USC trailed 7-0 after three as freshman Logan Chapman struggled a week after being named SEC Freshman of the Week. Chapman gave up two homers and seven runs in 2 2/3 innings. Once again the Gamecock bullpen rose to the challenge and shut the opponent down. TJ Shook was first to the mound and he held Vanderbilt without a hit for 3 1/3. That was enough to give Carolina a chance. Matt Williams and Jacob Olson opened the top of the 5th with singles and would each score on RBI singles by TJ Hopkins and Carlos Cortes respectively. Shook blanked the Commodores again in the bottom of the 5th, then USC really exploded in the 6th. Carolina opened the inning by loading the bases on a hit by pitch, a double from Justin Row and a catcher's interfence. A walk to Jacob Olson made it 7-3 then a sacrifice fly by Hunter Taylor cut it to 7-4. Hopkins' second RBI single cut it to 7-5 and LT Tolbert singled to bring in two and tie the game. Cortes then stole home for the go-ahead and eventual game winning run. Shook, Eddy Demurias and Sawyer Bridges held Vandy without a hit the rest of the way, as Bridges picked up his third save and USC defeated the #17 Commodores 8-7.
